The Quest for the Perfect Venue

Before you embark on your quest to find the ideal venue for your dream debut party, you should be armed with certain details first. Research what you can on the internet, call if you have to and list down prospective venues for your 18th birthday celebration.

If you have a dream venue (and by dream, I mean famous and expensive) for your debut party and you have the budget to back that up, then by all means book it, and book it fast! Some of these famous establishments are so in demand that it is hard to book them on such short notice, most especially if your party falls on a weekend. For these venues, they require that you book at least three to six months before the date. So, if you’ve successfully booked your dream venue, I congratulate you!

If you are still figuring out what venue to choose, these are things that you need to consider. You might be surprised that all it takes is easy as A-B-C!

A — Ask around. As I’ve said before, happy customers often beats a 30-second TV ad commercial. Ask your friends where they held their 18th birthday parties and how they feel about their venue. Ask them to rate it. Also ask them on other prospective venues that they have seen or scouted.

B — Budget! How much are you willing to shell out for your venue. Some consider this as the ultimate consideration. Now, don’t go melancholy on me just because you weren’t able to book the venue you want. Move on.. As they say, there are a lot of fish in the sea. Actually, I lost count of how many they are in our Venues section. It’s no use picking a venue that is so expensive, you don’t have enough budget left for food. Remember that your guests need to eat.

C — Count them. How many will you be inviting. It is extremely important to know how many guests you will be inviting. Knowing this would help a lot in choosing your venue because your main consideration in looking for the perfect venue is its capacity. If you are planning on inviting around 100 guests, look for a venue that can easily accommodate 100-150 people. That way, if more guests come than what you expected, you would be able to accommodate them. It would totally be embarrassing to let them wait for some of the guests to finish eating so they can take their place on the table. Totally uncool.

D — Debut packages. If your venue has a special debut package that you can avail, weigh it against having separate suppliers for everything. It will be worry-free if you avail of those packages because they usually take care of everything so you don’t have to worry about anything. On the other hand, there is freedom in having separate suppliers because you can choose the supplier that you want. Some venues, however, only want accredited caterers to cater for an event in their venue, so ask that as well.

E — Extras. If you are going for the rental of the venue alone, ask what will be included in the rental (lighting, sound system, spotlight, decorations, etc.) This will be important to know so you can cross this out later in your checklist. Determine what features you won’t be using so that you can use the money you can save for other things.

F — Freebies. Also ask what freebies they can give you so you would consider them over the other venues. An extra hour for free would be a good deal.

G — Got a theme in mind? If you have, you should consider that as well. A garden venue works well for whimsical themes like Fairies theme, A Midsummer Night’s Dream theme, Butterfly theme, Green Earth theme, Cherry Blossoms Zen-inspired theme, etc. A mini-auditorium would work well for Awards Night-inspired theme or a Fashion Runway-inspired theme. Bars would work well for the Rave theme, Glam-Rock theme, Disco Night theme, etc. Function Rooms are much more flexible. It is like a blank canvass waiting for a masterpiece painting. It would depend on how you decorate the room to adhere to your theme.

H — Hmmm… I think I don’t have something to put for H, but the following are important too.

I — Is there enough parking space for your guests. Sometimes parking spaces can be a real problem. Guests would obviously want their vehicles parked in a well-lighted and guarded spot. If they park at a dark alley, they would naturally go out often to check on their cars.

Another important consideration in looking for a good venue is to know whether the place is accessible and easy to go to. You don’t want your guests still looking for your debut party venue while you’re already doing your grand entrance do you?

If all details cannot be met by a single venue, choose those that are most important to you and make that as your basis. When you have these details settled, you can now do the leg work and visit your prospective 18th birthday party venues. The moment that you see the venue, you will know. Everything will flow freely from you as if by magic, you will picture the venue as if you are in your own debut doing your grand entrance, and you will know it is the one.

Sorry for the late reply. Have you figured out what type of venue you want? We have a list of venues in the Quezon city area that you might want to check out. http://debutideas.com/?page_id=97#quezoncity. For hotels, they have packages that ranges from 50 to 100k. For instance, http://www.robbinsdalehotel.com/v2/packages.php, http://www.fernandina88.com.ph/ and http://hotelrembrandt.brinkster.net/main.html are some hotels in the QC area. Hope this helps. Happy Birthday Janina.

  3. hello.. my sister will be having her 18th this april and im planning it. can you suggest a venue where we can have a pool party? as much as possible we hope it’s in cubao, qc. πŸ™‚ or near that area. thank you! im planning for a simple pool party. πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Tutay,

Here are some venues that have a pool and a function room. fernandina 88 suites. Regalia Tower Suites.

Philam Life Homes Clubhouse also has a pool that I’m sure will be perfect for your sister’s debut party. However, it is located in west avenue, QC. The Sulo Hotel also has a pool but it is in Diliman, QC. There are lots of swimming pools in the Antipolo area. Try looking for one here. Hope this helps and happy scouting.

  5. hello. i’ll be having my debut party this coming july and i still do not have a venue… my parents want it to be somewhere near our place here in pasig,, can you suggest a venue that is both pretty and affordable, too? thanks. god bless!

  6. Hi Bea,

First of all, July is a rainy month so you should consider a venue that is enclosed like hotels or restaurants or a garden that has a roof or canopy. There are restaurants in the Metrowalk area that is affordable and pretty at the same time. We have also a venues page that you may find helpful in looking for your perfect venue. Hope this helps and happy birthday.

  7. hi. do you think it would be okay to have an indoor pool party for my daughter’s debut this coming november? she doesn’t really want a party, so were throwing something simple, with close friends and family only, around a 100 guests or so. we’re here at qc. also can you recommend any budget friendly caterer? thanks, hope you can reply ASAP.

  8. Hi Ma’am Joanne,

A pool party will be a good choice if you want your party to be intimate and informal so yeah your indoor pool party sounds like a lot of fun for a simple girl. Even if you want it simple, you may want to still put some elements in there that will make it memorable. I’m sure your daughter will be thankful for it. Having a theme would actually achieve that, but you can also go with some ideas here in this article that will work for you and just go with that.

Hope this helps and happy planning.

  11. Hi Ringo,

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with celebrating your 18th birthday! πŸ™‚ When you choose a theme, just be sure that it’s something that’s close to your heart. You may use any of the themes we have come up with but you can make some tweaks of course! Some birthday party themes that can also be used by males (unisex) are Hollywood theme, Awards Night and Rave. Make sure also to enjoy this party planning stage and get help from your friends and loved ones!

    Hope this helps!

  12. hello! can you help me find a venue here in QC wherein the debut rates/packages are 30K below? I have a little budget and my birthday is fast approaching (August 2010). Please help me. thanks! πŸ™‚

  13. Hi! I will be having my debut on September and I’m already starting to look for the venue. Aside from The Glass Garden, what venue can you suggest that has a staircase? especially place at Pasig or near Pasig. Is it a good idea if I mix up Fairytale theme and Butterfly theme? And can you give me ideas and tips I can do if I use the Butterfly and Fairytale theme? Thank you so much! Hoping for your early reply.

  14. Hi Trixia,

There are a few hotels in the Quezon City area which you may try calling. They have affordable debut packages but I think it is a little bit more than 30k. The next option would be restaurants like Gerry’s grill for instance, or how about Max’s. You might want to call Tony’s Bar and Grille in Mindanao avenue. UP Bonsai Garden has rental fee of 10k I think and then you can bring in your own food or hire a caterer that is right for your budget. I believe Studio Z and Coffee Therapy Cafe is also affordable so you may want to call them as well. Here you can find venues in the quezon city area. Quezon City. Hope this helps and happy planning.

  15. Hi Maezzie,

I’m not sure there is anymore venue in the Pasig area with a staircase aside from Glass Garden. You can definitely mix up the Butterfly theme with the Fairytale theme to make it more magical. Hope this helps.

  18. hello. im having my debut nextyear and I want to have a Fashion Runway-inspired theme, do know some organizer that can make a runway stage? thanks a lot πŸ™‚

  19. Hi, i saw in one of your replies, you recommended Tony’s bar and grille na affordable, function room po ba dun or ung mismong place na nila un? And is it really cheap? Like 30k with food? i’m in tight budget kasi 😐 Thank you! πŸ™‚

  20. Hi Ana,

I’m afraid we don’t know about their rates. It will depend on what package you avail. Tony’s is a bar/restaurant with three function rooms but being a restaurant, I think you need to avail of their packages which includes their food. Call them for a quotation. Find them here. Venues in Quezon City

  22. Hi Debutideas author! it’s my 18th birthday on february 14 2011 but i’m going to celebrate it on the 12th. The venue that I chose is dad’s place events venue in quezon city. Do you think the space there is enough to accommodate 100 people? and I’m having a hard time on coming up with a theme for my debut..I want it to be unique because the Hollywood Glam, Awards night, Fairytale and Butterfly are some of the themes my other friends and classmates did on their own debuts. Please help me.. thank you so much! πŸ™‚

  23. Hi Demii,

We apologize for not replying sooner. Rustica I think is a nice place. It is a restaurant that also caters so I’m sure they have budget packages that you can choose from. You can look for other venues here so you have other options.
